Financial reporting

Financial reporting prepared,variances flagged.

The AI financial reporting agent gathers the figures from your systems at every period close, builds the reports in the agreed format and highlights values that break the usual pattern. The finance team checks, explains and decides. The agent does not keep the books and does not provide financial advice.

Preparing reports takes up time that should go into analysis

At every month-end close, someone exports data from the ERP, pastes it into the same spreadsheets, checks the formulas, rebuilds the charts and writes a commentary. Significant variances only become visible at the end, sometimes after the report has gone to management. The process is repetitive, but a single copying error can spread through all the figures.

  • The same exports and formulas redone by hand every period
  • Data from the ERP, the bank and separate spreadsheets, hard to piece together
  • Variances against budget or the previous month are discovered late
  • Little time left for explaining the figures and making recommendations

Who it is for

  • Finance directors and controllers who prepare the same reports for management every month
  • Companies with several sites or cost centres that consolidate data from different sources
  • Business owners who want a clear report on sales, costs and cash flow without waiting for days
  • Small finance teams, where preparing reports leaves little time for analysis

What the report looks like

Month-end close, ready for review.

On the agreed date, the agent gathers the figures, fills in the report in the team's format and flags what falls outside the pattern. The controller reviews, explains and decides what goes to management.

The agent prepares and flags; the finance team reviews and decides. The figures above are made up for the example.

What the financial reporting agent does

  • 01

    Collects the period's data

On the agreed date, it takes the ERP exports, bank statements and internal spreadsheets, with read-only access.

  • 02

    Builds the periodic reports

It fills in the reports in the team's format: sales, costs by centre, margin, receipts, compared with the budget.

  • 03

    Flags variances

It highlights values that exceed the agreed thresholds against budget, the previous period or the usual pattern.

  • 04

    Proposes an explanatory commentary

It drafts a first version of the covering note, with what has changed and where the team should look.

  • 05

    Checks data consistency

It flags totals that do not match between sources or periods with missing data, before reporting.

What data and tools the agent uses

  • Exports from, or read access to, the ERP and the accounting software
  • The approved budget and reports from previous periods
  • The report templates the finance team uses today
  • The variance thresholds and flagging rules set by the controller
  • Bank statements or receipts reports, where needed

Control and transparency

What stays in human hands

  • Checking and approving every report before it is distributed
  • Explaining the variances and drawing conclusions for management
  • Any accounting entry, tax return or financial decision
  • Setting the flagging thresholds and the structure of the reports

Limits and how we manage them

  • It is not an accounting, audit or financial advisory service and does not replace qualified specialists
  • Reports reflect the source data, so it works best when the ERP records are up to date
  • A flagged variance is not an explanation; the cause has to be established by the team
  • The commentary proposed by the agent can misinterpret a variation and must be reviewed before distribution

How we measure report quality

We agree the indicators together before launch and track them afterwards. The values depend on the process, the data and the volume.

Agreement of figures with sources
The controller reconciles the report totals with the ERP over the first pilot periods.
Relevance of flagged variances
The team notes which flags were useful and which significant variances were missed.
Corrections to the proposed commentary
We compare the note drafted by the agent with the final approved version.
Report preparation time
We measure the time from period close to a report ready for checking.

How we implement the reporting agent

  1. 01

    Report inventory

We establish which reports are prepared periodically, from which sources, for whom and with what rules.

  2. 02

    Connecting the sources

We set up read access to the ERP and spreadsheets and define the flagging thresholds with the controller.

  3. 03

    Running in parallel

For a few periods, the agent prepares the reports in parallel with the team, and the differences are analysed.

  4. 04

    Moving into everyday use

Once validated, the agent's report becomes the starting point, and the team checks and approves it.

Use cases

The scenarios below are conceptual examples, not delivered implementations.

  • Private clinic network

    Monthly report by location

The agent prepares revenue and costs for each clinic, compared with the budget, and highlights locations with unusual variations.

    Conceptual example
  • Furniture manufacturing

    Monitoring production costs

Every month, the agent compares material costs per order with the internal standard and flags variances for the cost controller.

    Conceptual example
  • HoReCa distribution

    Weekly receipts report

The agent matches invoices issued with payments received and highlights clients whose delays exceed the agreed threshold, for the finance team.

Frequently asked questions

  1. Is it an accounting or financial advisory service?

No. The agent prepares reports and flags variances for your team. Accounting, tax returns and financial decisions stay with qualified specialists. For broader analytics and business intelligence projects, we have a dedicated service.

  2. What happens if the data from different sources does not match?

The agent does not pick a version on its own. It flags the difference, shows the sources that disagree and holds the report at the checking stage until it is clarified.

  3. How is financial data protected?

The agent only gets read access to the sources it needs, and reports stay in your own workspaces. Together we decide where the data is processed, who has access and how long logs are kept.

  4. How is it different from a dashboard?

A dashboard displays figures. The agent prepares the full report for the period, checks data consistency and drafts a first explanation of the variances, which the team reviews.

  5. How is it different from the AI data analysis agent?

The reporting agent prepares the same reports at every period close, in the finance team's format, and flags variances. The data analysis agent answers new, one-off questions asked in natural language. They can be used together, on the same sources.

  6. How do we get started?

With an inventory of the reports prepared periodically. We connect the sources with read-only access, set the flagging thresholds with the controller and run the agent in parallel with the team for a few periods before everyday use.
